Aribert Reimann b.Berlin 4.3.1936

Plays by Shakespeare, Euripides and Strindberg have found operatic form in Reimann's output - an achievement that places him at the forefront of contemporary composers in any country exploring the boundaries of music theatre. A gifted pianist whose recital work with Fischer-Dieskau is legendary, he possesses a profound understanding of the voice; like Britten, he writes with a deep awareness of the individual psychological and vocal characteristics of his performers.
